Chimneys

A reconstructed barracks at Fort Loudoun State Historic Site, near Vonore, Tennessee. This fort was a British fort built in 1756 to counter France's growing influence in the colonies of the New World (now the U.S.) The fort was overthrown by the Cherokee (a powerful Amerindian tribe whose territory extended throughout the Southeastern area of what is now the U.S.) in 1760.

Three years ago, a reconstruction of the fort and its buildings began. The project is nearly completed at this point and provides a fascinating look at what frontier life in the colonies was like.
